A Perfect Summer Afternoon…

Brook Playing in the Fountains at Desert Ridge

Brook Playing in the Fountains at Desert Ridge

Today after I picked Brook up from school I took the kids to Desert Ridge as a special Friday treat.  We went to the toy store, had a snack at Rubio’s (Brook’s favorite) and then I let Brook splash around in the fountains.  There is nothing better than watching a smiling and laughing little girl cool off on a hot summer afternoon.

Blake was content sitting in his stroller, watching all the other kids splash around and have some fun.  Later, Travis met us and then we all went out to dinner and spent a wonderful summer evening together.

It’s moments like this that make me…

A) Fall in love with my husband all over again

B) Fall in love with my children even more

C) Reminds me that nothing is more important than family

D) Reminds me that my life is wonderful, amazing, happy and complete.

My Husband Gets Jealous

Friday, May 1st, 2009

My husband has this weird need to have a bald head every summer.  But, I have another theory…he gets jealous of our children and their maintenance free hairstyle.  Case in point, December 2005 with Brook when she was around five months old…

It seems as if history is repeating itself…Now it’s 2009 and the baby is Blake at 11 weeks old…

Sometimes I have to be reminded about how good I have it

So anyone who knows me, knows that I am a HUGE Oprah fan…I mean I am a loyal follower of the Oprah way!  If she was a religion, I would faithfully follow it and that is saying a lot since I’m not really “religous” in the traditional sense of the word.  Monday’s episode, which I saw today, is about men who are single parents.  One lost his wife to breast cancer and one man lost his wife after she had their daughter.  Both were amazing stories of selflessness, survival and love.  There were a couple of other stories too, just as important and compelling, but the first two men struck my heartstring.  They re-taught me how precious and fleeting life is and how spectacular my life really is.  I have an amazing husband who is right there in the trenches with me.  I have many luxuries that other parents raising children don’t have and I really do get a lot of help from others.  I know I would have a mental and possibly physical breakdown if I was a single parent and my heart and mind can’t even begin to comprehend what it would be like if Travis passed away right now.  So, thanks Oprah for giving me an “ah-ha” moment.

What Bothers Me About My Husband

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

So I watch this video blog called www.momversation.com and today’s topic was, “what bugs you about your spouse.”

Okay, my pet peeves are as follows:

1 – He set up a Google Calender so we could be more organized and so we both could know what was going on with our daily agendas.  It was his request to create this calender and I spend a decent amount of time putting things on the calender to keep us all informed, yet he is constantly asking me about what our day, week, ect is going to be like…Look at the calender buddy, that’s what it’s for!

2 – He snores now and I am a light sleeper…He didn’t snore before I married him…Stop snoring!

3 – He is also married to his Blackberry…it almost is more important then us…almost.

Really, all in all he’s an amazing guy, but hey everyone has pet peeves.  I’m scared to know what mine are…don’t tell me!
