Maybe I Should Start Training…

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

So I just signed up for a 10 mile run on Thanksgiving…

Oh, and I just signed up for the PF Chang’s 1/2 Marathon too…

Maybe I should start training…

Tomorrow is a good day to start…I’m gonna make an appointment for Blake at the gym.

I am hoping that this kickstarts the once healthy lifestyle I used to lead a couple of years ago…

Paying a decent chunk of money is good incentive to get my ass in gear and start moving these feet!

Here I go!!!

Inspiration and Energy…

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I have none.

It’s been a good month now that I have felt completely uninspired to do anything more than what I have to.  And by have to I mean, I have to take care of the kids so they, you know, survive.  I have to do laundry since none of us have anything to wear and I have to once again unload the dishwasher.  This is basically all I can muster up energy for.  Really, I think I would live my life in my bed if I could.

I know how completely pathetic this sounds.  How completely pathetic I sound…but, it’s how I feel…

A Month of Travel…

Friday, November 20th, 2009

I must admit that although the blogging world around here has been quiet (I think I have two posts this month), my life has been a whirlwind of travel.  It all started Halloween weekend when we packed up the kids and flew to the San Francisco area for a little family reunion.  I’ve already posted about this trip, but hey it’s part of the month of traveling, so I’m mentioning it again.

After this trip I was home for three days.  Just enough time for me to unpack, wash the clothes, clean the house, go grocery shopping and re-pack.  Then I hopped on another plane, but this time it was with my bestest bud Shanny and her and I had a girls trip to Puerto Vallarta.  It was five days of sleeping in, drinking tons of beer, eating guacamole and chips non-stop and chilling on the beach with one of my favorite people in this whole world!

Life was so good there!  Here are some of the highlights!  We swam with dolphins, had beach side massages almost every day that we were there, contemplated how to get a pelican to fit in the overhead compartment of the airplane, went on a tequila tour, danced the night away, we were told that we were beautiful by the locals about a thousand times (who cares if it was because they wanted us to buy their goods), learned how to say, “Donde esta mi novio Jorge?”  Also, bought a slice of amazing chocolate pie from the pie Nana who was peddling pie on the beach and last but not least…I slept uninterrupted for four whole nights…it was spectacular!

Oh and let’s not forget:  Todos y todos y todos y todos….y Hugh Jackman!

Don’t get it?  Well you should have been in Mexico.  Okay here is a hint…Dr. Cox.  Still don’t get it?  Okay here is the clip.

So after getting whatever tan I could wearing SPF 70 (hey, gotta worry about pre-mature aging people), I came back to Phoenix.  Again I had just enough time to un-pack, do laundry, clean house, grocery shop and re-pack so we could all go up to the White Mountains for the weekend with our awesome neighbors.  So I went from a warm, tropical beach to freezing my ass off in the snow in less than a week.  It was awesome!

It was so very cold and it made me remember why I don’t live in a four season state!  I must admit though, that it was beautiful and watching the snowfall was magical, even if it was just a small storm.  We had fun doing family activities in the day and then once the kids were in bed we had a blast playing “Drinking UNO.”  I haven’t laughed that hard in a really long time…Hanging out with the Arthur’s was a blast!

So then we came home and three days later, Travis re-packed his things and headed to San Diego with one of his business partners for a conference and some guy time.  He comes home today.  Then, while he un-packs so I can do laundry, again, I’m going to take the kids to Tucson on Sunday to see my grandparents since we aren’t having Thanksgiving with them this year.  After that, I hope, we are stationary for a small amount of time.

So, I haven’t been blogging, because one of the reasons is I haven’t been here.  Or, I’ve been taking care of the kids solo.  It’s been a fun month and it’s gone by fast…I guess that’s what happens when you travel for a month!

Halloween 2009

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

How come I am posting Halloween about two weeks after it’s happened?  Because I have been a travel goddess!  For Halloween, Travis and I packed the kids up…oh who are we kidding, I packed the kids up and Travis and I flew to Oakland with the kids to go to my cousin’s surprise 40th birthday.  Then after that, I jetted to Puerto Vallarta with Shanny for a much needed girls trip.  Then there was all the laundry and well re-packing since we are going up to Pinetop this weekend.  What can I say, we have the travel bug!

So this Halloween, both kids had two costumes each.  The costumes we bought them and then the costumes my MIL bought them.  Blake didn’t get a chance to wear both of his, but luckily the one Carol bought him was Christmas orientated so maybe he’ll wear it then.  Brook on the other had had two perfect occasions for two fun costumes.  She was a cowgirl for her school party and Ariel for Halloween.  Here are the highlights in pictures!

She absolutely loves that hat…she can’t get enough of it.  Here is Brook at school with her BFF…Ellie.  The picture is a little blurry, but still adorable nonetheless.

Notice Brook’s cheek.  This is the first time she has ever wanted her face painted!  In the past, we’ve asked her if she would be interested in having her face painted and it always has been, oh hells no!  Well she doesn’t cuss of course, but in my mind that is how adamant her no is.  I don’t know why she would freak out, but she would.  And then at her school party she was totally excited for the face paint.  “Bring it on” she said, again metaphorically not literally.

After we picked her up early from school we went to the airport.  I let Brook keep her costume on and everyone commented or gave her “cute” eyes.  She got loads of attention and loved it.

So, after a few hours we ended up in F airfield.  Here is a random shot of my cousin’s surprise Halloween birthday party.

We partied all afternoon and then that evening got the kids ready to go out Trick or Treating…Here are the costume results.

In this corner as cute as can be, showing off his potential salary is Money Bag Blake…or as we like to call him, our Sugar Baby!

And in this corner, somehow being able to breathe on land and in the sea is the beautiful Ariel…

Here is Brook and my cousin’s daughter Sierra walking up to a home to Trick or Treat.  They both picked mermaid costumes…not planned people!  Last year they were both Tinkerbell also…again, unplanned.  Maybe their Halloween costume choices are in their DNA.

Finally, we have the four year old showing off her candy prize and getting ready to eat her body weight in sugar.  She tried, boy did she try.

It was an amazing Halloween.  I saw some of my family that I haven’t seen since I was a kid.  I heard some amazing stories and had a wonderful time with the one’s I love the most.  And, Halloween reminded me just how rich my life really is…
