How come I am posting Halloween about two weeks after it’s happened? Because I have been a travel goddess! For Halloween, Travis and I packed the kids up…oh who are we kidding, I packed the kids up and Travis and I flew to Oakland with the kids to go to my cousin’s surprise 40th birthday. Then after that, I jetted to Puerto Vallarta with Shanny for a much needed girls trip. Then there was all the laundry and well re-packing since we are going up to Pinetop this weekend. What can I say, we have the travel bug!
So this Halloween, both kids had two costumes each. The costumes we bought them and then the costumes my MIL bought them. Blake didn’t get a chance to wear both of his, but luckily the one Carol bought him was Christmas orientated so maybe he’ll wear it then. Brook on the other had had two perfect occasions for two fun costumes. She was a cowgirl for her school party and Ariel for Halloween. Here are the highlights in pictures!

Brook Getting Her Cowgirl On for Halloween 2009
She absolutely loves that hat…she can’t get enough of it. Here is Brook at school with her BFF…Ellie. The picture is a little blurry, but still adorable nonetheless.

The Girls at Their School Halloween Party
Notice Brook’s cheek. This is the first time she has ever wanted her face painted! In the past, we’ve asked her if she would be interested in having her face painted and it always has been, oh hells no! Well she doesn’t cuss of course, but in my mind that is how adamant her no is. I don’t know why she would freak out, but she would. And then at her school party she was totally excited for the face paint. “Bring it on” she said, again metaphorically not literally.
After we picked her up early from school we went to the airport. I let Brook keep her costume on and everyone commented or gave her “cute” eyes. She got loads of attention and loved it.
So, after a few hours we ended up in F airfield. Here is a random shot of my cousin’s surprise Halloween birthday party.

Nothing Like a Family Reunion During Halloween!
We partied all afternoon and then that evening got the kids ready to go out Trick or Treating…Here are the costume results.
In this corner as cute as can be, showing off his potential salary is Money Bag Blake…or as we like to call him, our Sugar Baby!

And in this corner, somehow being able to breathe on land and in the sea is the beautiful Ariel…

Brook as a Beautiful Mermaid
Here is Blake showing off his loot, before Mommy auctions it off to the highest adult bidder. I can make a lot of money selling Trick or Treat candy to adults

Blake Holding His Halloween Candy
Here is Brook and my cousin’s daughter Sierra walking up to a home to Trick or Treat. They both picked mermaid costumes…not planned people! Last year they were both Tinkerbell also…again, unplanned. Maybe their Halloween costume choices are in their DNA.

The Girls Trick or Treating
Finally, we have the four year old showing off her candy prize and getting ready to eat her body weight in sugar. She tried, boy did she try.

The Sugar Rush Has Started
It was an amazing Halloween. I saw some of my family that I haven’t seen since I was a kid. I heard some amazing stories and had a wonderful time with the one’s I love the most. And, Halloween reminded me just how rich my life really is…
